Adventures in the Valley

A change in career plans led me to the public defender's office. So here are my thoughts on bicycling, brewing, baking and the occasional work crap.

New toy

Got my bike computer yesterday. Totally awesome.

I had previously estimated that the distance to my office from home was 16 miles. It's actually 16.9 miles. So, I'm riding 33.8 miles every day I ride. I live at ~2,000 feet elevation according to a couple of topo maps I reviewed. The 2,000 foot line goes through my neighbors property. Therefore I might be 2005-2010 feet. Close enough for me. Looking at the topo for my office it appeared that the office was approximately 1370 feet. The altimeter showed 1371 when I got here, currently it reads 1388. Again, close enough for me.

Starting temp this morning 43 degrees F, 45 when I got to the office. Avg speed 14.8 mph, max speed 24.5 mph. Average grade 2%, max grade 9%. I lost approximately 630 feet from home to office. Ride time 1:08:19.

It was rainy so the bike was wet when I got to work. Left a bit of a trail on the floors and new carpets. Office manager wasn't real happy with me. So, the bossman bought a bike rack for us. It'll be installed next week. Apparently I'm an expensive employee. Well, it'll clear up my office not having a bicycle in here.

I really like my new toy/bday present!!!
