SNOW!!!
It SNOWED yesterday. ALOT. Big fluffy deep snow. And somewhat wet. I really would rather go to snow. When it comes to me I'm kinda slightly annoyed. Ah, well. It is rather beautiful.
Here's a view towards the ranch house, you can see the porch light to the left.
Here's a view out to the dry lot area. In the background is the neighbor's barn.
We built a snowman!! Not the best of pictures, but you can see how big it is. The dark person shaped blob on the left is 6'4", the less dark taller thing in the middle is the snowman.
I also baked bread yesterday. It was a yeasty day of fun. Rye bread, bagels and pizza dough. Here's the rye bread near the end of baking. The loaves are beautiful. This was my second time making a rye bread.
Rye bread is difficult to put together. Rye flour is very hydrophilic and if you pump all the liquid in at the beginning of putting the dough together it gets really slimy and makes a very dense bread. According to Laurel's Bread book it is best to work in the last cup of water whilst kneading. Which is what I did. This means a good half hour or so of kneading a rather stiff dough. My arms hurt today. But I made good bread.
I found a 1st edition of the Laurel's book in excellent condition at Powell's about a year ago. It's slowly accumulating the gunk of touching a book while kneading dough.
